Privacy Policy
Last updated: 2026-07-02
This Privacy Policy explains what personal data FreeTour.travel ("we", "us") collects when you use freetour.travel (the "Site"), why we collect it, and the choices and rights you have. We built the Site to be usable without an account — most visitors browse and click through to a booking partner without ever giving us personal data directly.
1. Data we collect
Information you provide. If you contact us by email (e.g. hello@freetour.travel or guides@freetour.travel), we receive whatever you include in that message — typically your name, email address, and the content of your inquiry.
Information collected automatically. Like most websites, our hosting and analytics infrastructure automatically logs standard technical data: IP address, browser type, device type, pages visited, and referring site. We use this in aggregate to understand how the Site is used and to keep it secure — we do not use it to build individual profiles for advertising.
Cookies and affiliate tracking. When you click a link to a booking
partner (Civitatis, Viator, Agoda), that link includes a tracking identifier (for example
an aid, pid, or cid parameter) that tells the partner
the click came from FreeTour.travel, so we can be credited if you complete a booking. See
our Cookie Policy for the full list of cookies this can set.
2. How we use data
- To operate, maintain, and improve the Site;
- To respond to inquiries sent to our support or guide-application email addresses;
- To measure which pages and destinations are most useful to travelers (in aggregate, via analytics);
- To attribute bookings made through affiliate links, so partners can pay us the agreed commission.
We do not sell personal data to third parties.
3. Third parties we share data with
When you click through to a booking partner, that platform (Civitatis, Viator, Agoda, or others we add over time) becomes its own data controller for whatever you do on their site — including any personal data you give them to complete a booking. Their own privacy policies apply from that point on. We encourage you to review them before booking.
We may also use standard infrastructure providers (hosting, analytics, email delivery) that process data on our behalf under their own data-processing agreements.
4. Your rights (GDPR & beyond)
If you are in the European Economic Area, UK, or another jurisdiction with similar protections, you have the right to request access to, correction of, or deletion of personal data we hold about you, and to object to or restrict certain processing. Because we collect very little personal data directly, most requests can be resolved quickly — email hello@freetour.travel and we will respond within 30 days.
5. Data retention
Email correspondence is kept only as long as needed to resolve your inquiry and for a reasonable period afterward for record-keeping. Aggregate analytics data is retained according to our analytics provider's standard retention window.
6. International transfers
FreeTour.travel serves a global audience, and our hosting and analytics infrastructure may process data outside your country of residence. Where required, we rely on standard contractual clauses or equivalent safeguards for these transfers.
7. Changes to this policy
We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time. Material changes will be reflected by updating the "last updated" date above.
8. Contact
Questions or requests about this policy can be sent to hello@freetour.travel.
